THE MARIAN ROUTE SANCTUARIES
The basilica of “El Pilar” stands on the right bank of river Ebro. It is recognizable in the distance by its characteristic towers and domes. This urban sanctuary is one of the most recognized in the Catholic world. It is the first Marian temple in the world.

Located in the middle of a beautiful natural environment, Torreciudad has a wonderful panoramic view of the Grado reservoir. This modern sanctuary is a meeting and pilgrimage point for thousands of families and groups. It is one of the most visited places in the Aragonese Pyrenees.

An universal and cosmopolitan place of faith. The Sanctuary of Lourdes is the most visited Marian pilgrimage center in the world. More than 6 million people arrive to the Grotto of Massabielle in search of relief and hope every single year.

Sheltered by the most emblematic mountain in Catalonia, Montserrat becomes a unique enclave in the region. It’s not only a sanctuary, as it is also a monastery and a mountain. The monks who live in the monastery take care of the Virgin, welcome the pilgrim and preserve the culture.

This sanctuary is surrounded by nature and places of great beauty. We could say that the Sanctuary of Meritxell is a finding. The new church has been recognized with the title and dignity of ‘Minor Basilica’ by Pope Francis. It is one of the most visited spaces in the Principality of Andorra.
